I Started My First Draft
Hi, readers! ♡
A little update on my book project: I’ve officially started my first draft!
I’ve set myself a goal of finishing it by the end of the year, which feels both exciting and slightly terrifying to say out loud. Right now, I’m mostly just trying to get the story out of my head and onto the page without worrying too much about whether every sentence is perfect.
I’ve also been reading and watching a lot about writing lately. Tips on how to build a story, develop characters, write better dialogue… basically anything I can get my hands on. At the same time, I’m trying not to get too caught up in all the advice. I think there’s a point where you just have to stop researching everything and actually write.
My motivation definitely goes up and down. Some days I’m a little meh about the whole thing, wondering if it’s all pointless. And then other days, a new idea or burst of inspiration suddenly appears out of nowhere, and I’m completely excited about the story again.
I guess that’s part of the process.
For now, I’m just going to keep writing and see where it takes me. Hopefully, by New Year’s Eve, I’ll have a very messy first draft waiting for me.
If you’ve ever worked on a creative project, do you prefer to plan everything out first, or do you figure things out as you go?
Until next time, ♡
