My Favorite Movies and Series to Watch in Autumn
Hi readers,
There’s just something about watching certain movies and series in the autumn. Maybe it’s the cozy feeling, the darker evenings, or simply the nostalgia that comes with watching something you’ve loved for years. I definitely have a few that I always find myself coming back to when the weather gets colder.
So, here are some of my favorite autumn watches. Some of them are very autumnal, and some of them… maybe not so much, lol. Enjoy!
Gilmore Girls
I don’t think you can make an autumn watch list without mentioning Gilmore Girls.
It’s probably one of the first series I think of when I want to get into an autumn mood. The small-town setting, the leaves, the coffee, the cozy sweaters… it just has that perfect autumn feeling.
Even if you’ve watched it before, I think Gilmore Girls is one of those series you can come back to every autumn and still enjoy.
Buffy the Vampire Slayer
Buffy the Vampire Slayer is another one I really enjoy watching around this time of year.
I also absolutely love Buffy’s style. I feel like the outfits in this show are such a fun mix of late 90s and early 2000s fashion, and I could probably spend way too much time looking at what everyone is wearing.
And of course, vampires, demons and the occasional creepy episode fit pretty well with autumn too.
Fantastic Mr. Fox
Fantastic Mr. Fox is such a fun and creative movie. I love the animation and the whole visual style of it, but there’s also something about it that gives me such a nostalgic autumn feeling.
It’s one of those movies that is just really fun to watch, and I feel like I notice something new every time. And, it makes me laugh. A lot.
Twilight
Okay, I have to admit something…
I watch Twilight every year. yes. every year.
I don’t even really know why. There’s just something about those movies that feels so cozy and nostalgic to me, especially the first movie.
Maybe it’s because I watched them when I was younger, but they always take me back to that time in my life. The rainy weather, the forests, the slightly dramatic and cliché romance… I don’t know. It just works for me. I love it.
So yes, Twilight has officially become an autumn tradition.
Harry Potter
Of course, I cannot make an autumn watch list without mentioning Harry Potter.
I love watching the Harry Potter movies throughout autumn and winter. They are just unbelievably cozy, especially when it’s dark and cold outside and you can curl up on the sofa with something warm to drink.
And this year, I actually want to have a proper Harry Potter themed movie night with my best friends. Maybe we should dress up and bring our own wands, haha! Wingardium leviosa those butterbears, lol.
Casper
This was one of my favorite movies to watch in autumn when I was younger. It’s such a lovely movie, and I have so many nostalgic memories connected to it.
It’s actually been a couple of years since I last watched it, so I think it’s about time I watch it again this autumn. It always makes me cry though, so if you’re thinking to watch it yourself, you are warned!
Wednesday
Wednesday is another fun autumn watch.
It’s a little darker and more mysterious, but still has that fun, slightly quirky feeling that makes it perfect for October. And honestly, sometimes you just need something a little spooky without it being an actual horror movie. (I can’t stand those btw, will have nightmares for 3 months straight, but I watch it anyway)
10 Things I Hate About You
Okay, I know this one isn’t really an autumn movie.
But if you love romance, I really do love 10 Things I Hate About You. So why not include it?
I feel like there are no real rules when it comes to autumn movies anyway. If it makes you want to curl up under a blanket and watch a good movie, I think it counts.
Stranger Things
And of course, we cannot forget Stranger Things.
I especially love the first three seasons. There’s something about the whole series that makes me feel like I’ve somehow jumped into another timeline.
It’s cozy, nostalgic, mysterious and dark all at the same time. I love the 80s setting, the small-town feeling and the fact that you never quite know what’s going to happen next.
It’s definitely one of those series that feels extra good to watch when the evenings start getting darker.
E.T.
E.T. gives me a little bit of the same feeling as Stranger Things. It has that nostalgic, slightly magical feeling that I really love.
It’s another one of those movies that makes you feel like you’ve stepped into a different time, and I think it’s a perfect cozy watch for a grey autumn evening.
And I think that’s all I can think of right now!
These are some of the movies and series I personally love and associate with autumn, whether it’s because they actually have that autumn feeling or simply because I’ve watched them so many times during this time of year.
Do you have any specific movies or series that you love watching in the autumn? I’d love to hear your recommendations.
Until next time, ♡
