This Week: Harry Potter movie night, Shopping Temptations & Weekend Activities
Hi readers,
Somehow, October seems to be flying by already. I’ve been enjoying the little things lately, and I thought it was time for another little life update. So, grab a cup of whatever you like, get comfortable, and let’s catch up!
I had a movie night with a friend on wednesday, and we watched the first Harry Potter movie. I honestly don’t think I’ll ever get tired of those films. There’s something so comforting about going back to a familiar story, especially when you get to share it with someone else. And of course, it made me want to watch the rest of the movies all over again.
I think one of my favorite things about this time of year is having more evenings like that. Staying in, watching a movie, playing games or just spending time with people you love. Nothing particularly exciting has to happen for it to be a good evening.
Speaking of cozy things, there’s currently a big sale going on, and I may or may not have found a few things I really want to buy.
I’ve been looking at some special editions of Little Women and Alice in Wonderland, both of which have such beautiful covers. I love books that feel like little treasures, especially when they have that vintage, classic look. I can already picture them sitting on my bookshelf.
I’ve also been looking at a chess set and a Rubik’s cube. I think it would be fun to have a chessboard at home for when I have friends over, and the Rubik’s cube is one of those things that I would love to learn how to solve properly.
The only problem is that everything adds up rather quickly. There always seems to be something you want to buy, especially when there are sales everywhere. And while the prices might be good individually, suddenly you’re looking at several purchases at once.
So, I think I might have to hold off on a few things for now. Which is probably the sensible thing to do, even if it’s a little disappointing when you’ve found so many things you like.
I’ve been thinking about how easy it is to feel like you should take advantage of a sale before it ends. When something is discounted, it can suddenly feel like you’re saving money by buying it, even when you hadn’t planned on buying it in the first place.
And I guess there’s a difference between buying something because you genuinely want it and buying it because you’re afraid of missing out on a good deal.
I still think it’s lovely to have things you look forward to buying, though. There’s nothing wrong with wanting beautiful books, a new game or something that makes your home feel a little more like you. I just want to get better at taking my time with those decisions, rather than feeling like I need to get everything at once.
Besides, sometimes it’s quite nice to have a little wish list to come back to later. Not everything has to be bought immediately, and maybe that makes finally getting something you’ve wanted for a while feel even more special.
I also spent some time at a football tournament today, helping out as a parking attendant. I was outside for about three hours, getting some fresh air. It was actually quite nice to spend some time outdoors, even if my hands and feet got pretty cold towards the end!
Coming home afterwards, taking a nice, warm shower, and being able to relax for the rest of the day felt absolutely lovely. Sometimes, it’s the simplest things that make a day feel extra cosy.
Anyway, that’s a little bit of life lately. A movie night, some very tempting sales, and a Saturday spent outdoors. Nothing particularly extraordinary, but sometimes those are the nicest things to write about.
Until next time, ♡
